At SOBcon yesterday in Chicago, Robyn Tippins, who was recently hired as the MyBlogLog community manager, spoke about several major upcoming changes with MyBlogLog.
There are several changes in the works:
1) The biggest news is that there will be a rebranding of MyBlogLog. The exact timing and new brand were not revealed. (YahooBlogLog or MyYahooLog? Time will tell.)
2) A complete site redesign is on the way!
3) A new “Widget 2.0″ is coming with some hover features.
4) Yahoo! is hard at work to remove the offensive photos so that MyBlogLog would be palatable to more conservative business blogs.
5) Some sort of method to turn off your presence for some types of sites will be added.

Analysis: The rebranding is not a surprise move. MyBloglog is really only known amongst the first adoptors and blogosphere and getting the Yahoo! name is front of more people in a soft way is a good move. Yahoo! seems committed to making these changes, while listening to suggestions and making the product more dynamic. Looks like the best is yet to come from MyBlogLog.
I wish all blogs had trackback addresses.

This is good news as MyBlogLog is doing very well, but it can do much better. I am glad that Yahoo! isn’t sitting on their past success, choosing to take MBL to a place beyond what many of us have envisioned.
At last. I love mybloglog, but it’s so damn ugly and has some awful navigation. I’m looking forward to seeing the re-branded version – I’m sure Yahoo will make it that little bit more web 2.0.

Since I was a member well before this was written I must say I don’t think there was any “Major” change in the past 2 months.
I did notice the avitars getting cleaned up and that is nice to see.

MyBlogLog seems to be screwing up user attribution in a more unpredictable manner now. I had not logged-in originally, but posted and left the URL as brulant.com. When the comment appeared I noticed a weird avatar. Turns out that she works with me. Thing is her MBL profile lists brulant.com as a site that she authors. Since I placed brulant.com in the “my website” section of the MBL-driven comments, it automatically assigned my post to her MBL account.
Yet it still knows when I am signed in to my own MBL account, since it displays my new Yahoo avatar as a recent visitor on the side of the page, even though it assigns my comment to the other account.
