It would even be better if they gave cash. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>This is how Mazda did it recently:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;   Sent me an email in early March inviting me to test drive a Mazda and get a $25 gift card as I had previously signed up for promotions as some of the new models were of interest<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Printed off pdf file<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Filled out form<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Went to Mazda dealer<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Found salesperson who didn&#8217;t know about the promotion<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Had manager figure out the details<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Test drove a Mazda<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Mailed in form<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.daviddalka.com\/createvalue\/2007\/05\/29\/mazda-march-2007-test-drive-visa-gift-card-not-received-after-8-weeks\/\">After 8 weeks card had not arrived and wrote blog post about it<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; A week later, the card arrives in the mail and I pick it up as I leave the apartment<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Since it has no sticker on the card saying it&#8217;s not active, I proceed to try to use it at a gas station and the guy   tells me it&#8217;s not activated<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Went to myecount.com and filled out a form that was just way too long (see below)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Put in mazda as my password for secret questions &#8211; for $25 this just is not necessary<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Unchecked default boxes to get updates from myecount.com<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Finally spent card<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Wrote post on this non-optimal customer experience in terms of duplicate data entry, time, cost and user utility<\/p>\n<p>This is a great example of how not to run a promotion, not exactly a good idea when you are trying to get someone to build trust in your brand for a 5 figure purchase.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photo_zoom.gne?id=532136544&amp;size=o\">See the full size of this form <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photo_zoom.gne?id=532136544&amp;size=o\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1364\/532136544_ca07a3496a.jpg\" height=\"500\" width=\"335\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ideally a gift card giveaway should work like this: fill out form (either on paper or online), perform requested action and get a gift card in a timely manner without hassle.
