I heard this around a year ago, but Google is building a new campus in rural Oregon, specifically, the Dalles, a on old manufacturing town with a hydroelectric damn on the Columbia River about 90 miles east of Portland. It should be open soon.

If Google found a building site on the Dalles which is a very off the beaten path place, they must be pretty active about looking at real estate. They’ve also sworn the whole town to secrecy about the Google campus.

Other fun facts, the town outside of the Dalles is called Dufur and it’s unofficial slogan is “Ask not what your country can Dufur you, but what you can Dufur your country.”
