My Hotmail is Now Windows Live Mail Beta

My Hotmail account has switched over to a shiny, new Windows Live Mail Beta account. I had received an invitation for the beta about a week ago and got another e-mail for the switch over this week.

It looks like a really clean Hotmail account with Word merged into it, which is probably pretty close to the reality. Web based spell check now happens as you are typing! This new feature differentiates it significantly compared to Gmail and Yahoo! Mail as they require you to hit a spell check button manually before sending which can easily be forgotten and embarrassing for the sender. Yahoo! Mail has been hinting a new version for some time, so it may soon have this feature.

In terms of ads, there is presently only a large banner ad on the top of the page. At this time, when reading an e-mail in Windows Live Mail Beta there are no text ads on the side as with a Gmail account. It will be interesting to see if it stays that way.

      I was another vic of the hotmail switchover/lockout and still cannot reach my account the old fashion way by going through the browser. I had to actually download the beta of windows live onto my desktop and set it up just like you would Outlook express as an IMAP account.

      Cannot get my emails…..I get to the emails listed but when I check into a particular email I want to see the message, it only gives me the subject matter and cannot click into the message…..what happened to the old method I used for years, came on so easily and now have all these problems……I just erased all my email messages and hope you can make life simpler, instead of so complicated.

      I’m having the same problem every body else is having on here, looks like to me. I can’t reterive my e mail, or send, or foreward, or resend it either. I thought microsoft was supposed to be making it easier for us, not harder. Give us our old msn, or hot mail accounts back again please?       I too am having the same exact problem, as of two nights ago… It has now come to the point where my email account is COMPLETELY Locked out, due to multiple attempts logging in with the “incorrect password”!
      This especially SUCKS for me because, I am trying to switch companies and any interview requests that prospective new employers are sending I am not getting! Also, I had surgery yesterday and my doctor sends my test results via secure email!
      Seriously, Microsoft, you don’t respond to our messages soon and you are probably going to end up with a Class Action Lawsuit on your hands! This is definately getting to be a MAJOR problem.

      Hey y’all! Thank you all for your posts and attempts at helping me recovering MY password! After 5 days of “incorrect password” notices, my email is back up-and-running again!!! I must’ve spoken to about 12 of the dumbest people that work at MSN since Tuesday, and I finally found a smart one! And, like I knew it would be, it was a VERY simple solution! Here’s how you do it:
      Copy and paste the following into a new browser:

      Then just follow the directions! Let me know if it works for you, as I do have another way to do it.

      Please Help! As of Sunday, November 25th my hotmail password is ’supposedly’ incorrect. This is NOT true. I have not made any changes to my account and I have never shared my password with anyone, ever! Is there a system error on hotmail’s end? How long does a temporary lockout last for? I have sent suppport an email regarding my issue, but only get the canned response. This is not a entry error.

      Hi Catherine!
      Well, I am not at all surprised that they are having “technical difficulties.” Keep in mind this link will only work if you cut & paste into a new browswer, rather than clicking directly on it. Even if you DO find a number to call MSN at, it is truly pointless to call them… you will get nowhere.
      The only thing I can suggest is that you wait, like, 24 hours and try to link again.

      Wow, I can’t believe I am NOT alone!!! I haven’t had my account since last Sunday! I have e-mailed customer service so many times I think they are going to sic the authorities on me for “e-mail stalking’” I’m so frustrated I don’t know where else to turn. I even bought a password recovery tool to see if maybe my password had changed, but it DIDN’T, & I sti can’t log on!!!

      I have had similar problem to Rosemary Bushart! I can only reterive ’some’ of my e mails. But I can’t send, or foreward, or resend them AT ALL.
      Have tried to contact MSN and have received an auto-reply helpless e-mail from them. After that, never heard anything from them again :(

      I hope MSN is doing something…. before we finish moving to YAHOO or G-mail…

      I have been a loyal user of hotmail but they really let me down. The webpage cannot open completely and properly and I cannot sign in to retrieve 8 important business messages.       I’m glad I’m not the only one having problems with the new windows live. I use aol as my isp and since 8 January have not been able to access the website. I get a server error page saying site is temporarily unavailable and have not been able to access any msn page or the microsoft.com page. I have tried using both IE and Firefox and no joy. Now i am wondering if i will have to change my email address to a completely different site such as yahoo or gmail. All other pages work fine, its just the windows live ones that have become inaccessible. Can anyone offer any advice on how to fix?

      I can’t retrieve my old hotmail account. I’ve tried the forgotten pasword button but it works only with the Live account. I haven’t found any link in Windows Live Help that addresses the temporarily-terminated account issue.

      I have the same issue with it as everyone else. Unfortunately I got an important account hacked into and when I went to change the password to that account I couldn’t because I had “tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect e-mail address or password” When I hadn’t entered the password or the email wrong ever in my memory.       I’ve been using windows live since dec. with no issues. No it locks me out and says I have tried to logon with the wrong info too many times. Even after restting my pass successfully multiple times it won’t let me in. gives me an image verification thing and even after that it keeps looping. tried multiple computers and access providers. email support only let’s me reset my frigin pass for the 100th time (to no avail).       Since I switched my Outlook Express to WLM nearly a month ago; I have been experiencing difficulties. It takes forever to download my messages, it freezes very often wile I am trying to move from message to message.       This new live SUCKS/ i have an intel i mac running on tiger 10.4.11.i up graded from msn hotmail to live hot mail. i lost several days work etc. IT GARBAGE my computed won’t give me well open my emails , wont open pages etc……whos messing things up. i can not even uninstall it. its a week now .cant even tell you the hours, i had apple care several times . this new live is trash. it doesn’t work on my imac. with or without firefox. i spent 3,000 and bought a dell xps waiting for it , this mac was ok but i know its not the computer but its the program for this style. the new version i would not push that button to up grade. its garbage that won’t work right. BM

      This week MSN switched over to the new hotmail (paint job)for hotmail…
      It messed up 16 computers at work and crapped out both of these PCs here at home…
      Way to go Microsoft !!!!

      Well there is not alot I can say further, cept. Hotmail has also locked me out of my free account. I was pretty sure i entered my pass correctly but now I’m certain (after reading the above comments) I really need the important mails in my inbox Can anyone help please!!

      I went into a live.ca account a few weeks ago and now when I try to go into my hotmail account, it tells me I am signed in with my live.ca account. When I click on sign out and sign in with a different account, it gives me the option to do it, but then takes me to the page where is says that I am already signed in with my live.ca account. I have gone into the live.ca account and signed out, but it doesn’t help. Seems like I am locked into a loop that I cannot get out of. I can sign in on any other computer and it works fine, but just not the computer that I went into the live.ca account. Has anyone else had this problem and how do I solve it? It isn’t even my live.ca account, but an account that was set up for a non profit company I work for.

      I have been trying toget into my windows messenger and always have an error #8100030d using hotmail address. If I use my yahoo address I get in just fine and I cannot send and receive e=mails either. I get a POP server error. I called my cable internet tech ans they gave me yet another e-mail address for telstar. It doens’t work either.

      Well this just happened to me as well…
      log into one account, sign out and relog in and it says wrong password… try logging into my other account and it automatically goes back to first account saying bad password…

      I FOUND A SOLUTION IN 5 MINUTES !

      at least it works for me….
      if your clock is off by 4 minutes or more… it messes a few things up including windows update. After correcting the time, everything is back to normal… let me know how this work for you all :P

      I an having this problem for several weeks now when I try to log into my email i get a messaga saying windows can’t open this site and it shuts off. Looks like someone could fix this. I don’t want to go through getting a new account but looks like that might be the only to solve this mess.

      HELP! Just like everyone else Windows Live will not let me log on, telling me I have the wrong password! I finally can get in through Yahoo Messenger Page to MYMSN but no longer have my saved messages etc that were on my computer. Alot of it was research!!       I am wrting with the same problem as everyone else. My best friend was recently murdered by her husband, allegedly, and I need to retrieve the volumes of email that she used to send me to my hotmail account, but never got a chance to read in entirety. The family is totally in denial,well her mother isn’t, but she’s an old woman completely controlled by her husband.
